How to install REALice®

The REALice® System can be installed horizontally or vertically.

Depending on your setup, the REALice System can be installed horizontally or vertically. Water can flow through the unit from the top down or from the bottom up — as long as there are at least 3 bars or 40 – 50 PSI available.

What matters is the water inflow is situated at the larger part of the unit and the water outflow is at the lean part. This is also marked by an arrow on the unit.

When installing the REALice system, a mixing valve and a back flow preventer should be installed at the same time. All resurfacing water MUST pass through the REALice unit.  The mixing valve will let you add a little bit of warmer water (max 68°F) to the water for resurfacing. This is rarely needed, but if the outside temperature drops significantly below 32°F or, during the transition period, if larger gouges than usual are present after heavy user groups have been on the ice. As the ice settles, the gouges will get smaller over time.[/vc_column_text]
