20 Oct Roadmap to Net Zero Ice Rinks Pilot: Sharing best practices and lessons learned
Roadmap to Net Zero for Indoor Ice ArenasOctober 20, 2021 – REALice is proud to be a part of the Mayor’s Megawatt Challenge’s Net Zero Ice Rink Pilot. Next month, the MMC will hold a virtual conference over 2-days to review the roadmap they’ve created, to share best practices and lessons learned, and the explain the impact of renewables in achieving net zero in municipal buildings.
The session descriptions and dates are below — and we hope you’ll join in

Day 1 – Wednesday, November 17 (1:00 pm to 3:30pm EST) – Roadmap to Net Zero Ice Rinks Pilot: Sharing best practices and lessons learned
Net zero carbon emissions is achievable and financially feasible in municipal ice rinks but requires an all-encompassing evaluation and plan of measures, employing life cycle costing that accounts for operations and maintenance costs, and aligns the timing of measures with capital renewal or planned capital investments over time.
Join us on Wednesday, November 17th to hear the results of the Roadmap to Net Zero Ice Rinks, a pilot which took a cohort approach to developing individual roadmaps for nine municipal ice rinks from seven municipalities to get their buildings to net zero carbon emissions over time.
We will share the best practices and lessons learned throughout the pilot so you can apply the learnings to your own portfolio of ice rinks.
Day 2 – Wednesday, November 24 (1:00 pm to 3:30pm EST) –The Impact of Renewables in Achieving Net Zero in Municipal Buildings
On-site renewables are a critical step in the roadmap to zero carbon buildings.
Join us on Wednesday, November 24th to explore the technical and financial suitability of on-site renewables at reducing carbon emissions.
